MD Beauty, Inc. (“Bare Escentuals”) was the market leader in the fast growing mineral-based cosmetics and skin care category.

Bare Escentuals products were distributed through a variety of channels including direct response television, wholesale accounts, spas and Bare Escentuals’ wholly owned retail boutiques.

In June 2004, York Street, along with Gleacher Mezzanine, co-led a $27.0 million senior subordinated note facility to support the leveraged buyout by Berkshire Partners LLC and JH Partners LLC, of which York Street invested $13.5 million in addition to investing $3.0 million of common equity.

York Street’s subordinated note investment was repaid in February 2005. Additionally, York Street realized its equity investment through dividends, and ultimately, through post-IPO stock sales in March and September 2007.
